R&D TEST STATION DESIGN
This project was completed during my first work term at Eaton. I was tasked with designing and implementing a new electrical test station setup for the R&D lab. The current setup was extremely messy and inefficient. It required the testers to hook up each test apparatus, wire in each component, then connect to whichever data logging device they were using. In an effort to cut down on the time spent, I developed switching boxes. These provided terminal block inputs for sensors and other components that were commonly tested. These inputs could then be connected to any of the different devices that might need this sensor input by flipping the switches. I built mounting setups for the test benches and attached and wired each of the different test components. Now, when someone wants to run tests all they need to do is hook the hardware they want to test up to the terminal blocks and flip the requisite switch. This cut down significantly on test time as well as lab clutter.
